Steve's Input

Steve elaborated a bit on his blog about brokenness. And he's looking for input on your experiences with brokenness and the role of the church.

Please take a minute to give him your feedback!

Hey, Julie,

I just read Steve's blog post, and would like to weigh in.

My first brokenness -- rejection and divorce from my spouse...so wounded, yet vulnerable enough to really be seeking the Lord when I made a move back home to Billings.

It has been my experience within the church I began attending that year, and still attend today (25 years later) that the fellowship and teaching were two great comforts for me -- whether it was someone inviting my family over for dinner, or including us in family nights or gatherings, this was a balm for my battered soul.

The teaching and preaching of the Word, however, surpasses even the best fellowship -- that is where the Lord began, and continues to grow me -- and holds me tight. A more recent brokenness has been my children's rebellion through their teen years and onward.

The Spirt speaks to my broken heart during worship -- affirms the Father's love and care, and strengthens my faith and strength.

May the Lord continue to use you and Steve to help the broken hearted....

Sharon - I am really touched by your honesty and vulnerability. This is exactly what Steve was getting to in his sermon. As Christians, broken people with forgiveness, we need to openly share our struggles and how the hope of Christ gets us through. That is the very thing that will draw others to the Savior.

You've encouraged me today and I know Steve will be encouraged to.

Would you mind if I copied this comment to Steve's blog comments?
